Abstract: EA is undergoing a digital transformation as it moves away from packaged games and annual release cycles to digital downloads and live services. This transformation has unlocked huge opportunities for artificial intelligence within gaming, many of which are problem settings that have never been addressed before. In this talk, we’ll overview the Digital Platform division within EA, in addition to some of the exciting problems the Intelligent Systems group is currently tackling. These will include economic modeling for pricing optimization, dynamic and personalized games, security challenges involving in-game fraud, and pre-launch tuning and game optimization with agents, just to name a few.

Bio: Marwan Mattar is a senior scientist in the Intelligent Systems group within the EA Digital Platform. He leads the development of several projects including economic modeling of virtual economies, personalized player experiences, and real-time anomaly detection for data validation. Prior to EA, Marwan received his BS/MS/PhD degrees in computer science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (2002-2014) where he worked on joint alignment, clustering, and feature learning.
