MS Mentorship Program Prepares for New Projects

Planning is underway for the third year of the Master's Mentorship Program, scheduled for the Spring 2019 semester. This innovative program, an exclusive benefit for members of the Industry Affiliates Program, involves small teams of data science Master’s students collaborating on an industry-sponsored project. Participating companies have the opportunity to make cost-effective progress on problems of interest while observing students for possible internship or full-time positions. Students benefit from completing a real-world applied learning opportunity under the direction of an industry-provided professional data scientist. Students also participate in a weekly independent study course taught by Professor Andrew McCallum in which they receive professional development education, hardware and software infrastructure training, research presentation practice, and career advice. CDS is hoping to build off of the success last year, in which students completed 14 projects with 10 companies from across the United States and Canada.
