Amazon, a CDS Industry Affiliates member, is making available Amazon Web Services (AWS) credits for two types of projects:
- Building cloud-hosted publicly available science-as-a-service applications, software, algorithms, or other tools that facilitate future research.
- Performing proof of concept or benchmark tests evaluating the efficacy of moving research workloads or open data sets to the cloud.
AWS provides an infrastructure for big data in the cloud. There are multiple ways you can use the credits: have Amazon take care of the provisioning, availability, durability, recovery, and backup of the data or do it yourself with their Elastic Map Reduce (EMR) product. In addition to storage, the AWS credits provide access a suite of open source tools, e.g. Hadoop, Spark, etc., for processing and analyzing your data.
These credits are available to faculty and students affiliated with the Center for Data Science. Please contact us for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org.
