Data Core is leading an exciting initiative to make generative AI accessible across the UMass Amherst campus.
As part of the University’s push to bring cutting-edge AI tools to students, faculty, and staff, Data Core is developing a generative AI playground that leverages open-source tools and integrates platforms like OpenAI GPT and Claude. This system, connected to UMass single sign-on, allows authenticated users to interact directly with powerful AI models.
The team is also working on custom AI assistants, including tools for incoming students and course-specific assistants trained on relevant content. This initiative aims to foster innovation and hands-on learning, providing the UMass Amherst community with practical and impactful AI resources.
